We left beautiful Winnipeg to visit family in Quebec and Ontario and here’s a little overview in pictures from my phone. The difference between the going out and the coming back is the cheery optimism… We are bright-eyed and excited for the change in scenery. I packed meals ahead of time and we avoided fast food stops for three lunches and one of two suppers on the road. Coming back, we are anxious to get home, interest in an audiobook has replaced interest in the scenery, and all meals (except for breakfast at the hotel) are fast food.
We stayed overnight at Super8s along the way… Thunder Bay was smokey, but we had ice cream at Merla Mae and admired the views at Marina Park.
“The Persian” is a local treat we recognized for its pink icing.
In North Bay, the hotel looked like a castle.
Rest stops in Quebec were large and new, and full of tourism guides. I collected a small pile for collage.
Our cabin had such a relaxing view… the boys would take their screens outside and in the afternoon, after a swim, we’d line up the swim shorts to dry in the sun.
We did some tourism… like visiting Sept-Chutes in St. Georges with family, and sampling ice cream at a spot with an amazing view.
There was Chutes Montmorency and Saint Anne-de-Beaupré.
We also visited Moulin La Lorraine, walked through the park and stayed to witness the live demonstration of the flour mill in action.
One day we visited a “chocolaterie” on l’Ile d’Orléans and did a brief tour of Vieux Quebec.
Calm sunsets, exciting boat rides, regular meals, cute dogs…
The two weeks flew by. On our way home, we made a detour to Niagara Falls where we visited an uncle, and got close to the beautiful landmark.
Then it was long days, a fairly comfy night in Sault St. Marie, and the relief of pulling into our own driveway in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
I’m happy to be back and to wish you, as usual, Happy Sunday!
